Repurposing books as art isn’t a new subject for this blog, but our new favorite book nerd-worthy organization takes the cake when it comes to book paraphernalia.
We encountered Litographs at Book Expo America this May in NYC and fell in love. They made a splash at the conference with their collection of t-shirts, posters, tote bags, and temporary tattoos made entirely from the text of your favorite books. That’s right, you can now clothe yourself in your most-beloved book!
Ever cool, Litographs is on a quest to create the world’s longest tattoo chain. We joined countless BEA-goers by getting “inked” with a passage from a single book while Litographs compiled them into the correct order. These aren’t just words on a page (or on fabric), Litographs works with professional artists to create functional art out of famous books. The designs are gorgeous, making their products incredibly gift-worthy.
Our favorite part? This isn’t just a company capitalizing on a cool idea. Litographs is committed to promoting literacy all over the world. They’re partnered with the International Book Bank “to send one new, high-quality book to a community in need for each poster, t-shirt, and tote bag we sell” (and for every five tattoos).
